U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has sparked significant controversy by labeling Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela as “enemies of humanity,” accusing them of being responsible for the migration crisis affecting the region. These statements did not go unnoticed by the Venezuelan government, which responded forcefully through its Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In an official statement, the Venezuelan foreign minister lashed out at Rubio, calling him a “pathetic obsessive” and questioning his motivations. “It seems he cannot sleep without thinking about Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Could it be because, despite the hatred he spews and his desire to harm with blockades, sanctions, and aggression, these nations have defeated him time and again with dignity and resolve?” the minister stated.

“The only enemies of humanity are those who, with their war machinery and abuse, have spent decades sowing chaos and misery across half the world,” he asserted, defending the stance of his country and its regional allies.

The minister also highlighted the resilience of Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua in the face of international pressure: “These nations have shown that they do not bow, they do not sell out, they do not surrender. And that is something the spokesperson for the failures and lackeys cannot stand, because they keep crashing against the dignity of the people.”

Finally, the Venezuelan foreign minister delivered a direct message to Rubio: “You can continue with your sick obsession, Mr. Rubio. Keep barking, because here we will remain, standing tall, defeating your fantasies as always: with sovereignty, resistance, and our heads held high.”

The Venezuelan government’s response reflects the ongoing diplomatic tension between the two countries, in a context where accusations and forceful replies seem to define the rhythm of international relations in the region.
